If you are required to complete a Driving While Intoxicated Education (DWIE or DWI-E) program in Texas, the process typically involves several steps. Please note that the details may vary, and it’s essential to follow the specific instructions provided by the court or the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). Here’s a general guide to navigating the online DWI Education program.
- Determine program requirements.
- Check the specific requirements set by the court or TDLR for DWIE. This includes the duration of the program, the provider’s accreditation, and any additional steps you need to take.
- Choose an approved program.
- Select an online DWI education program, like Texas Court Classes, that is approved by the TDLR. The official TDLR website lists approved providers.
- Texas Court Classes is licensed to provide DWIE by TDLR (license number 653).
- Enroll in the program.
- Once you’ve chosen an approved provider, enroll in the online DWI education program. You may need to create an account on the provider’s website.
- Complete the course material.
- Progress through the DWI-E course material. The online program will cover topics related to alcohol education, the effects of alcohol on driving, and the legal consequences of driving while intoxicated.
- Pass quizzes and exams.
- Most DWIE programs include quizzes or exams throughout the course. Make sure to review the material thoroughly and successfully complete any assessments.
- Fulfill time requirements.
- Some Driving While Intoxicated education programs have specific time requirements that must be met. Ensure that you spend the required amount of time on the course to meet these criteria.
- Receive the Certificate of Completion.
- Once you have successfully completed the DWI education program, the provider will issue a certificate of completion. Ensure that the DWI-E certificate includes the necessary information such as your name, the course completion date, and any other details required by the court or TDLR.
- Submit the certificate to the court.
- Submit the DWIE certificate of completion to the appropriate entity as instructed. This may involve providing a copy to the court that handled your DWI case or directly submitting it to the Texas DPS.
- Verify compliance.
- Confirm with the court or Texas DPS that they have received and accepted your Driving While Intoxicated education program certificate of completion. It’s essential to ensure that you have satisfied all requirements.
- Follow up as needed.
- If you have any questions or concerns during the process, contact the DWI education program provider, the court, or the Texas DPS for clarification and guidance.
- Record keeping.
- Keep a copy of your DWI-E certificate of completion for your records. It may be needed for future reference or documentation.
- Additional requirements.
- Be aware of any additional requirements, such as probation or other conditions imposed by the court. Ensure that you fulfill all obligations to successfully close your DWI case.
